2. Wed Night Worlds
(A) |
6:00pm
|
Wednesday Night Worlds - Oregon Ridge starting 5:30 early season moving to 6 PM when the daylight allows. A ride. Expect a neutral roll out/warm up and then all hell to break loose after the turn onto Stringtown Road. This ride is frequented by some of North Baltimore's finest cyclists and is a very competitive drop ride. There are no stopping points or regroup spots. While there are sprint points and climbs contested, the ride usually plays out more as a consistent high effort with little to no recovery time as opposed to many attacks and recoveries. If you are looking for a ride to prepare you for race season, or just want one heck of a challenge, come on out! Drop ride, so be sure to know your way home if you can't keep up.

|
TIME
Year round
7:00am |
LOCATION
|
DESCRIPTION
One of the fastest rides on a Saturday morning in DC. Riders should be very experienced riding in large groups of cyclists and well acquainted with the "pain cave." If you aren't, don't worry, you will be. Ride begins at the top of Rock Creek State Park. The ride leaves no later than 7:10am (be there by 7 to be safe) and is about a 40 mile ride in total length. The ride takes you up the Potomac River via MacAruther Blvd, brings you in and out of Great Falls State Park, and then proceeds to wind back to the top of Rock Creek.

2. 10am Ride (A,B)
|
Year round
10:00am |
Different route than the 7am ride; however, still the same intensity. Ride begins at the bottom of Rock Creek State Park. The group leaves no later than 10:10am and the ride totals about 50 miles. The ride proceeds through the park at a moderate pace where riders will join the group. Once the ride reaches Tuckerman Ln, the pace quickens rapidly and proceeds at a quick pace (25mph avg. for the next 20-25 miles). Terrain contains mostly rolling hills. The ride proceeds toward the Potomac and eventually loops back on River Rd. and back into Rock Creek State Park for the finish.

3. ABRT Saturday Ride
(A,B) |
9:00am - Summer
10:00am - Winter |
This is the “premier” ABRT group ride. This ride has been in existence since before the formation of ABRT over 20 years ago. There are three variants of the route between 55 and 80 miles (check the calendar for details on which route will be ridden, but we often also decide based on conditions and group composition). The ride travels to south to North Beach in Calvert County, mostly on smaller roads, and back. The pace is anywhere from 18-21+ mph (2:45 to 3:15 pedaling time). The first part of the ride usually stays together for the most part and very often on the second half the ride will split into various groups. Regardless of group, these are drop rides so there should never be an expectation of anyone waiting, so if you are not familiar with the routes, print both 1 and 2 or bring your gps enabled device.
